Forest Research is the UK's principal organisation for forestry and tree-related research and are internationally renowned for providing evidence and scientific services to support sustainable forestry. At present within the existing facilities it has become apparent that Forest Research requires controlled environment growth rooms to hold both regulated and non-regulated tree pests and pathogens in planta. These facilities are required to undertake research to understand the biology of pests and pathogens including deliberately infesting/infecting trees to understand host-pathogen/pest-environment interactions.
Research in these facilities provides evidence to inform policy, from pest risk analysis to pest management, and ranges from applied questions such as the host range of new pests/pathogens to fundamental studies.
