The Hong Kong Genome Institute has been tasked to implement the Hong Kong Genome Project (HKGP), the first large-scale genome sequencing initiative in Hong Kong. The project aims to sequence 45,000-50,000 genomes over five years to provide precise diagnoses and personalised treatments.
Our Role
CCTech was appointed as the Laboratory Planner for the HKGP laboratories at Hong Kong Science Park. Collaborating closely with the project team, CCTech conducted in-depth analyses of staff activities and DNA sample workflows, integrating these insights into the design of a fully operational genomics facility. The laboratory encompasses tissue processing and storage, DNA and RNA extraction, nucleic acid library preparation, digital PCR, and next-generation sequencing (NGS), culminating in sequence analysis managed within a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
In addition, CCTech advised on the ergonomic design of layouts, furnishings, and fittings to ensure optimal functionality in ultra-clean laboratory environments.
