The Southampton Centre for Cancer Immunology is the UK’s only dedicated cancer immunology centre – facilitating and driving new clinically-relevant discoveries in the field of cancer immunology.
The centre, located at Southampton General Hospital, includes a specialist clinical trials unit, a suite of molecular biology laboratories and a preclinical unit – over a multi-functional 4,000m², four-storey building.
Our role
- CCTech provided specialist design support to the main contractor for the Preclinical Unit
- (as an extension of Southampton’s existing Biomedical Research Facility) with the documentation of a User Requirement Specification (URS), commissioning management quality assurance, and the creation of a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) framework for the Unit’s general operations and processes.
- We also acted as validation and regulatory compliance interface with the Home Office, successfully employing the performance-based approach to licensure provided by the 2014 ASPA Code of Practice.
- As the project neared completion, CCTech continued to oversee the commissioning activities which concluded with a Facility Reliabilty Test (FRT) that monitored the stability of the Preclinical Unit and defined it as ready for occupation.
- We also managed a process that realised a Soft Landings approach to hand-over, with systems adjustment and defects rectification included.
